WINCHESTER MODEL 1886 DELUXE LIGHTWEIGHT TAKEDOWN LEVER ACTION RIFLE.WINCHESTER188612637345-70MODERN; C&RCal 45-70. This fine 1902 produced deluxe '86 has 22" extra light tapered rnd bbl, half magazine, takedown, Lyman pedestal mounted front sight and flat top rear sight. Mounted with about 3 X, center crotch, flame grain American walnut with "H" style checkered forearm and capped pistol grip buttstock that has Winchester embossed hard rubber buttplate. Left side of lower tang, under the wood is marked with the assembly no. "318". Top tang channel of buttstock has the assembly no. "358". Inside the buttplate is hand scratched "R.Scheller / Hartford CT. / 1980". CONDITION: Fine. Bbl retains about 95% strong orig blue with a few small nicks. Magazine retains 93-95% orig blue and the forend cap 92-93%. Receiver retains about 70-75% orig blue, strong & bright on the sides with a number of small scratches & light surface etching, thinned over the top and turning gray on the bottom. Hammer retains about 75-80% case colors and the lever 25-30%. Wood is sound showing a smooth, bright restored finish. Mechanics are crisp, bright shiny bore. 51544-2 JRL (5,000-7,000)
