FACTORY ENGRAVED DELUXE MODEL 1894 TAKEDOWN RIFLE WITH HALF ROUND HALF OCTAGON BARREL AND CHECKERED STOCKS, AND IVORY BEAD BEACH'S COMBINATION FRONT SIGHTWINCHESTER189419836832WSMODERN; C&R; ESACal. 32 WS. 26" 1/2 rnd 1/2 oct bbl with Beach's ivory bead combination front sight and two leaf Lyman rear sight. Lyman tang sight. Rifle is engraved in factory style no. 9 with a vignette of a bear on the left side and a vignette of an elk on the right side. Vignettes are bordered by vine scroll engraving with a walking line punch dot border. Engraving also appears on top front band of receiver, behind hammer at the breech end of the bbl, and on the buttplate tang. Stocks are carved in the "G" style with scallop accents at the wrist and on the rear of the forend. Blue finish. XXX grade crotch grain American walnut stocks. Lower left tang shows assembly no. 17868 followed by XXX stamped on the left inside flat. Assembly no. 17868 also appears on the buttstock under the buttplate and on the inside toe of the buttplate. Accompanying this rifle is a Cody Firearms Museum letter dated 10/28/1999 confirming all of the features and showing shipment on 11/2/1903. Order #204468. CONDITION: Very good. Bbl and magazine tube show a smooth gray brown patina overall with some traces of blue in protected areas. Sights are very good. Bbl address and cal. mark are sharp. Bore is dark with visible rifling. Receiver also shows a smooth gray brown patina overall with traces of blue in protected areas. Engraving is sharp and unmolested. Loading gate shows considerable traces of fire blue. Hammer and lever are a smooth silver gray patina with generous traces of case color in protected areas. Tang markings are sharp and clear. Combination tang peep sight is very good. Stocks are fine, full sized, and retain nearly all of the piano varnish finish. Checkering is sharp with only slight handling marks and scratches overall on the stocks. There is a small chip at the rear of the upper tang.
