RARE REMINGTON DOUBLE DERINGER TYPE I MODEL NO. 1 PISTOL. REMINGTON DOUBLE DERINGER 1192 41RF Cal. .41 RF. 3" bbls, blue finish, 2-pc rosewood grips. This is an example of the first variation of the Remington Double Deringer made without an extractor. SN is stamped on the upper left grip frame under the grips and on the bottom of the bbl lug. Elliot's patent is marked on the left side of the bbl rib, "E. REMINGTON & SONS. ILION. N.Y." is stamped over right rib. CONDITION: Very good. Bbls retain 10% bright blue in protected areas with the balance blended to a mottled blue/brown patina. Rib markings are sharp. SN mark is sharp. Bores are frosty with some stains and visible rifling. Frame is a mottled silver/gray patina overall with some handling marks. Hammer retains traces of fire blue finish. Bbl latch and trigger are a silver/gray patina. Grips are very good and are intact, right grip is slightly battered at the top. This is a rare example of an early Remington Double Deringer made in 1866, in a quantity estimated at under 2000. 51641-12 TEP (1,250-1,750)
