EXTREMELY RARE REMINGTON DOUBLE DERINGER TYPE III NO. 4 PISTOL MARKED "U.S. PROPERTY". REMINGTON DOUBLE DERINGER L75459 41RF MODERN; C&R Cal. .41 RF. 3" Bbls, matte gray/blue finish. Bbl has 1-line Remington-U.M.C. address on top. Bottom bbl has "U.S. Property" stamped on the lower surface towards the muzzle. Bbl also shows "WB" stamped on the locking lug. SN appears on the lower left grip frame and on the bottom of the bbl. Right side of frame under bbl latch shows a diamond and 6-pointed star proof with "E.E.C." stamped to the rear, this is a U.S. inspectors mark. There is an ordnance bomb proof stamped on the butt of the grip strap. Pictured and referenced to on pages 93, 129, 130 and 131 of Remington Double Derringer by Drummond, Johnson, Williams, and Barnard. PROVENANCE: Bruce Burtner Collection. CONDITION: Very good. Bbls retain 80% of the matte blue finish with most of the loss toward the muzzle end. Bbl marks are all sharp. Bores are bright with strong rifling and only a couple small stains. Frame retains 90% of the matte blue finish that is thinning on the grip straps. Hammer, hinge screw, locking lever screw, locking lever, and trigger all retain a generous amount of blue finish. 2-pc hard rubber grips are very fine with sharp checkering and no missing pieces.
