COLT 1911 PISTOL SHIPPED EARLY 1918 IN ALL ORIGINAL EXCELLENT CONDITION. COLT 1911 223248 45 MODERN; C&R Cal .45. 5" bbl. Colt 1911 Pistol shipped early 1918 in all original excellent condition. Slide right marked "Model of 1911. U.S. ARMY" in Gothic font. Left side of slide has standard Colt patent information and Colt's address with Rampant Colt to rear of slide. Receiver has SN in Gothic lettering behind slide stop pin. Left side of receiver has "United States Property" and acceptance mark of Gilbert H. Stewart above the mag catch release. Dbl diamond checkered stocks show slight wear and moderate flattening of diamond points. Front sight thin, rounded, flat. Rear sight rounded notch. Widespread checkered hammer. Short tang grip safety. Flat mainspring housing with lanyard loop. Checkered thumb safety and slide stock. Orig bbl with "P, H" vertical. Bore bright and shiny with only faint frosting at chamber end. CONDITION: Stock screws are pristine as is the wood around stock screws. Mag catch and lock are pristine. Receiver grip strap mostly frosted. Mainspring housing partially frosted. Dustcover is slightly frosted. Remainder of frame excellent. Small pit under slide stop. Slight thinning of slide on muzzle. Bbl shows moderate wear through ejection port. Only minor peening of slide stop notch. Moderate ding left slide after Colt address. Several dings on top of slide. Mag is standard two-toned Colt Type IV pin based. Overall, a very attractive all orig early 1918 pistol with most of the wear on the front and rear straps. 51696-11 KXK (2,500-4,500)
