PRUSSIAN 9TH GRENADIER (2ND POMMERANIAN–VON GNEISENAU) REGIMENT OFFICER'S HELMET MODEL 1897-1913.

Helmet has the pre-frontplate change of June 16, 1913. Black lacquered green felt body with gilt trim. Helmet body has excellent form and fine stitching. Unusual felt body has "AWES MARKE" inside. Interior sweat leather and silk head liner. Visors colored. No extra holes in body. Helmet body has bright finish with only small scratches from use on back of helmet. Visors lightly crazed from age. Metal trim retains bright gilt finish. Round base with smooth spike. Frontplate retains 75% of fire gilding. Colberg banner nicely blackened to show lettering. Flat chinscales with officer's Reichs and Prussian cockade. SIZE: PROVENANCE: The Doug Buhler Collection of Rare and Spectacular German Imperial Headgear and Pickelhauben. CONDITION: Overall very good plus. Frontplate has had repair above banner to eagle's head. Exterior shows small scratches and crazes. 51586-8 RT (3,500-4,500)
