HANNOVERIAN 10TH FIELD ARTILLERY (1ST HANNOVERIAN–VON SCHARNHORST) REGIMENT MODEL 1897 HELMET.

Black lacquered fiber body with brass trim. Body has excellent form and firm stitching. Metal trim is some mix of war quality finishes. Interior sweat leather and silk head liner. Sweat leather marked with "Depahag Patent". Inner visor is colored. Frontplate is the line Prussian eagle with stamped in banners "PENINSULA-WATERLOO-GOHRDE"/"COLBERG 1807". Frontplate is war time quality with no gilding. Round base with star retainers. Round ball to indicate artillery. Rounded chin scales on rosettes. Officer's Reichs and Prussian cockades. SIZE: PROVENANCE: Ex-Walter Hartmann Collection; The Doug Buhler Collection of Rare and Spectacular German Imperial Headgear and Pickelhauben. CONDITION: Excellent plus. Helmet body has extra holes behind frontplate. Frontplate missing two retaining nuts. Exterior finish of body good but has areas of crazing. Interior excellent plus. 51586-7 RT (2,500-3,500)
