AMES 1845 DATED MODEL 1842 NAVY BOX LOCK SINGLE SHOT PERCUSSION PISTOL.N.P. AMESU.S. 1842 NAVYNSN54Cal. 54. Standard configuration with 6" rnd bbl. Lock has good discernible "N. P. AMES / SPRINGFIELD / MASS" and "USN / 1845". Bbl is marked "USN / 1845 / RC / P". This is an honest, complete example of Mexican War era martial naval pistol. CONDITION: Good overall. Metal is grey with old cleaning, staining and pitting, especially a breech though markings are still discernible. Swivel appears restored, though ramrod appears orig. Brass mounts have old cleaning and varnish. Stock is sound with wear, rounded edges, refinished, scattered dents and dings retaining old re-varnished finish.
