COLT COMMERCIAL TO MILITARY CONVERSION PISTOL.COLT1911-A86236645MODERN; C&RCal. .45. At the beginning of WWII ordinance department requisitioned all Colt Commercial 1911A1 stock. The Commercial markings were peened out and "United States Property", and SN were added in the appropriate place. Ordinance marking and "M 1911A1 US Army", Military Acceptance mark (GHD), and "P" proof marks were added. Slide retains orig right hand side Colt marking and logo. Slide left hand side retains orig Commercial Colt Patent markings. Under firing pin stop plate, slide is properly numbered 862366 with traces of orig Commercial numbers showing through. Left trigger guard bow has verified proof and "W" final inspection mark. Right side upper trigger guard bow has assemblers number "69". CONDITION: Ordinance marking crisp and sharp. Numerous minor dings and a few pits on receiver. Scattered pitting on slide sides and top. Rear sight dented on top. Parkerized finish slide and frame approximately 80%. Grips are double diamond 1911 type that appear to be Colt manufacture. Grip screws very good. Mag catch lock slot very good -. Mag is marked "C-S" on bottom tongue (Colt Supplied). Bbl is Colt 45 auto marked at 45 degrees. Small "G" marked in front of lug. Bore is poor but may clean up a bit. Pistol originally would have had an "S" marked bbl. Slide has Swartz safety cutouts, frame also has Swartz safety cutouts. Top of frame "S" (Sales) marking. GHD inspection mark crisp, moderate take-down scratch. Milled trigger. Overall a decent entry level Commercial to Military conversion. 51138-69 KXK (1,250-2,000)
