SPECTACULAR GENERAL OFFICER'S MODEL M-15 45 PISTOL BY ROCK ISLAND ARSENAL.ROCK ISLAND ARSENALM15GO 62845 ACPMODERNCal. 45 ACP. Developed in 1972 and manufactured at Rock Island Arsenal. The Model M-15 General Officer's 45 was issued through 1981 when replaced with the M-9 GO Beretta. These pistols were fabricated using a standard M 1911 A1 pistol milling off all old markings; reducing slide and bbl length to 4-1/2"; installing high profile sights match bbl and trigger and checkering frontstrap of grip; installing 2-pc checkered walnut grips with ordinance wheel medallion from Rock Island Arsenal; and, installing a small nickel silver nameplate on left grip. Slide is marked "General Officer's Model/RIA". Frame is marked "Serial No. GO 628". All markings are inlaid with gold. This Model M-15 was issued to U.S.A.R. Major General James Neal Ellis. Pistol is housed in its proper and correct open top black leather holster marked "DEPUTY/BUCHEIMER, VALENCIA CALIF/Clark, No. B16-74". Complete military bio available on our website. CONDITION: Exceptionally fine condition, with very light traces of finish wear on high points of slide. With several small areas of pinprick corrosion evident on top of slide and frame just below slide release and on opposite side above trigger. A very small blemish is present on slide below markings. The 2-pc walnut grips are exceptional with no evidence of wear or distress. Bore and mechanics are excellent. All gold inlay is present with no loss. The fact that these guns were fabricated by a U.S. military arsenal makes them a spectacular oddity. The entire production is listed as 1,004 units. 51013-1 TDW (4,000-6,000)
