BAVARIAN INFANTRY RESERVE OFFICER'S HELMET MODEL 1897-1915.

Black lacquered fiber body with all gold metal trim. Helmet body with excellent form and firm stitching. Interior sweat leather and silk head liner. Sweat leather marked with "Depahag Patent". Exterior leather with only mild surface crazing on front and back visor trim. Frontplate is the Royal Bavarian Heraldic Arms with a silver Reserve cross in center. Top has Bavarian style cross spike base and fluted spike. Spike removable at base as in the M15 patterns. Chinscales are not M15. Overall metal trim is underlaid with zinc. Gold stars to retain spike. Rounded chinscales with Reichs and Bavarian cockades. SIZE: PROVENANCE: The Doug Buhler Collection of Rare and Spectacular German Imperial Headgear and Pickelhauben. CONDITION: Excellent plus inside and out. Shows virtually no wear. Exterior lacquer excellent finish. 51586-6 RT (2,000-2,500)
