BADEN 109TH LIFE GUARD REGIMENT EM HELMET MODEL 1895.

Black leather body with all silver trim. Leather body slightly shrunken with age with firm stitching. Interior black colored enlisted man's tongue style liner. Inner visors not colored. No extra holes in body. Regimentally marked "LGR 109" lightly inside left back visor. Overall finish to helmet is very good with only light crazing due to age and shrinkage. Frontplate is the Baden winged dragon with the Order of Louis in the center. Silver enlisted pattern spike is removable. Missing one retention stud in spike base. Leather chin strap M91 with Reichs and standard Baden cockades. Frontplate held in place with screw retainers. SIZE: PROVENANCE: Robert H. Haskell, III Estate Collection, James D. Julia,Inc., sold March 2015. The Doug Buhler Collection of Rare and Spectacular German Imperial Headgear and Pickelhauben. CONDITION: Overall very good plus. Exterior has normal wear, scuffs and scratches but no lacquer loss. Leather liner still has draw string. Chin strap original. 51586-33 RT (1,750-2,250)
