BAVARIAN 2ND CHEVAUXLEGER REGIMENT NCO HELMET MODEL 1897-1916.

Black fiber body with fine silver trim. Very elegant helmet in the pre-war quality. Fiber body has excellent form and firm stitching. Squared front visor. Exterior lacquer has near mirror finish. Interior has officer sweat leather and silk head liner. Sweat leather is gold embossed with the "Depahag Patent" maker mark. Silver frosted frontplate is the large Bavarian emblem. Crossed spike base with NCO pearl ring and fluted spike. Rounded chinscales on M91 side posts. Enlisted style Reichs and Bavarian cockades. In the back of the sweat leather is written name "J. Dobner/2.Chev.-Rgt.Taxis". SIZE: PROVENANCE: The Doug Buhler Collection of Rare and Spectacular German Imperial Headgear and Pickelhauben. CONDITION: Excellent inside and out. Fiber body has nice external finish. Silver frontplate has oxidation. 51586-45 RT (1,500-2,500)
