ROYAL SAXON ZAHLMEISTER (PAYMASTER) OFFICER'S HELMET MODEL 1897.

Black fiber body with all silver trim. Body has excellent form and firm stitching. No extra holes in helmet body. Sweat leather and silk head liner. Leather visor marked with the "Depahag Patent". Colored visors. Tall silver officer's spike with star retainers. Silver star with gilt Arms of Saxony under which is the "Beamte" administrative device on bottom. Silver rounded chinscales with non-serrated Reichs and Saxon State cockades. SIZE: PROVENANCE: Robert H. Haskell Estate Collection, James Julia Auction, March 2014; The Doug Buhler Collection of Rare and Spectacular German Imperial Headgear and Pickelhauben. CONDITION: Excellent external condition with bright finish to fiber body. Interior shows use with slight damage and tears to leather sweat band. 51586-15 RT (1,500-2,000)
