WUERTTEMBERG 29TH FIELD ARTILLERY ENLISTED MAN'S HELMET MODEL 1895 WITH WARTIME NUMBERED FIELD COVER.

Light brown/green enlisted style field cover for an artillery regiment. Front of helmet has stenciled numbers "29". Top of cover has rounded spike bag for an artillery ball. Retained to helmet with 5 hooks (3 on front, 2 on back). Stamped on inside of front with maker mark "Stuttgart" and dated "1914" with the size "57". Mounted on a Model 1895 Wuerttemberg Model 1895 enlisted man's helmet. Leather helmet has good form and firm stitching. Complete with enlisted style tab liner. Complete with draw string. Brass metal fittings. Frontplate is the royal Wuerttemberg emblem in brass. Brass removable ball from base. Complete with leather chin strap and both Reichs and Wuerttemberg enlisted cockades. SIZE: PROVENANCE: The Doug Buhler Collection of Rare and Spectacular German Imperial Headgear and Pickelhauben. CONDITION: Helmet is good but shows extensive use with scuffing and small tears to head liner. Metal trim has not been cleaned or polished. Cloth field cover has minor tear in bag covering artillery ball. Overall dirty from age. 51586-59 RT (1,000-1,750)
