COLLECTOR'S LOT OF TWO HANDGUNS 1930 BROOMHANDLE AND COLT 1903 SPUR HAMMER. MAUSER BROOMHANDLE 916658 7.63 MODERN; C&R Cal. 7.63. 5-1/2" bbl with blue finish overall. Late production 1930 pattern with crown "U" proofs. Typical late production Broomhandle, likely made for the then Asian market. Commercial series with no military markings, with Mauser banner commercial stock with proper non-numbered iron. PROVENANCE: The Frank H. Wheaton, III Collection. CONDITION: Exceptionally fine, with most blue finish remaining with typical light finish loss on bbl and forward section of mag assembly from being housed in its wooden holster stock. With over 95% blue finish remaining. Grips are exceptionally fine with slight bruising and oil staining. Grips are not numbered which is appropriate for commercial 1930 model. Varnish finish is somewhat worn on grips with approximately 50% remaining. Commercial banner stock consistent with condition of pistol is very fine. Oil finished with slight bruising, however, no cracks or breakage. Finish on iron is thinning with approximately 30% remaining, as with hinge in same condition. COLT 1902 HAMMER SEMI-AUTOMATIC PISTOL. COLT 1902 HAMMER 25069 38CAL MODERN; C&R Cal. 38 Auto. Right slide marked "Automatic Colt Calibre 38 Rimless Smokeless". No markings on bbl through ejection port. Left slide marking "Colt's Standard Patent and Address with last patent date September 9 1902". Circled Rampant Colt to rear of slide. Left upper trigger guard bow marked "VP". Left lower trigger guard bow marked "6". Right trigger guard bow is blank. Smooth short trigger. Checkered flat hammer. Stocks are brown molded plastic with Colt and Rampant Colt emblems. Brass escutcheon rings around screws. Front sight is thin, tapered and rounded. Rear sight is rounded with rnd notch. PROVENANCE: The Frank H. Wheaton, III Collection. CONDITION: Slight pitting in fire bluing on trigger, both sides. Slight pitting around recoil spring retaining pin. Slight erosion to rear grip strap. Slight erosion on high edges. Left stock has crack on top grip escutcheon. Curved and flat surfaces, high polished blue. Magazine bottom very good, unmarked. Slide key shows most of fire blue. Overall a very attractive gun. 51517-7 KXK (2,000-3,000)
