MAUSER LUGER, 1938 CHAMBER DATE, S/42 CODE, WITH HOLSTER AND TOOL. MAUSER P-08 LUGER 52171 9MM MODERN; C&R Cal. 9mm. Standard Mauser Luger with 1938 chamber date and S/42 toggle code. 4″ bbl with drift adjustable front sight and fixed rear sight. Full SN with letter suffix on forward frame, repeated SN under bbl and on left side of receiver. Bbl and right side of receiver with usual Waffenamt acceptances. Disassembly shows all small parts to have matching SNs. Unmarked wooden grips with left panel missing chip by safety lever. Mag with folded blued body and aluminum plug numbered "943x" over "E/655". Brown leather holster missing securing strap, both belt loops having been repaired, obscuring manufacturer and acceptance markings. No spare mag. Unmarked takedown tool. CONDITION: Pistol with approx 80-85% orig salt blue with most external markings white highlighted. Much worse condition grips, likely replacements, with the right grip screw reblued. Crisp bright bore with sharp rifling. Perfect manual mechanics. VG mag with significant wear on front and rear spine. Supple leather holster though lid has considerable crazing. Loss and repair of straps/belt loops as noted in description. VG takedown tool with blue transitioning to patina. Gun would be improved considerably by upgrading the grips and replacing the reblued screw. 51709-17 LMA (1,250-1,850)
