FINE CONDITION AND HIGH QUALITY OVER UNDER FLINTLOCK PISTOL BY TATHAM & EGG.TATHAM & EGGO/U F/L115854Cal. 50. 4-3/4" Octagonal twist bbls have case hardened patent breeches with poincon marked "TATHAM & EGG", as well as platinum vents. Very fine armorial engraving is on false breech. Locks with late style waterproof gold lined pans, roller frizzens, and french cocks, have back sliding safeties and rebated tails. Locks are engraved "Tatham & Egg" under pans. Pistol is fitted with single trigger which fires top bbl first and bottom bbl on second pull. Nicely figured walnut stock with square checkered long grip is steel mounted. Trigger guard has armorial engraving on bow with SN on central oval. Shaped grip cap with sunburst engraving is marked with rack number "36". At top of grip is a truncated gold square engraved with royal coat of arms with motto "Hon Soit Qui Mal Pense" surrounding a lion passant, all surmounted by a sovereign's crown. Steel ramrod mounts through single ferrule on left side of bbls. CONDITION: Excellent, except for cleaning of trigger guard and grip cap. Bbls retain over 90% of their orig brown with excellent definition to pattern. Locks retain over 80% of their orig case hardening color. Orig stock finish is somewhat worn through at grip with checkering lightly worn. Pistol appears essentially unfired with bright shiny bores and very few marks on frizzens. Locks are crisp. Trigger appears to work well. 51162-9 MGM15 (3,000-5,000)
