EXCEPTIONAL HIGH ORIGINAL CONDITION, FLINTLOCK DOUBLE FOWLER BY GOELLNER (SUHL).GOELLNERF/L DBL FOWLERNSN22Cal. 22 ga. (.600 bore diameter). 31" Twist bbls have long case hardened patent breeches with gold lined vents, and gold inlaid "Goellner in Suhl". Breech iron has border engraving and delicate gold inlays of sunburst and scroll. Locks with flat plates feature semi-waterproof pans, roller frizzens, sliding safeties, and serpentine cocks. Locks and cocks are also gold inlaid with delicate wheat stalks and some decorative scroll. Makers name and address are in gold under pans. Nicely streaked and lightly figured stock has wooden trigger guard/ grip which is reinforced with engraved German silver with a German silver heel plate with fancy engraved spur. Stock also features some carving around butt, right hand cheekpiece chip carved at transition, and checkering at grip and forend. Fruit wood ramrod with horn tip and German silver tail (worm under cap) is held by two deeply turned fancy German silver pipes. CONDITION: Excellent. Bbls retain over 90% of their orig grayish brown finish with some staining. Breech and locks retain approx 95% orig case hardening color. Stock retains nearly all of its orig oil finish. Bores appear to be excellent, with some coagulated grease and oil, but are rather dusty. Locks are crisp. 51162-17 MGM46 (3,500-5,500)
