FINE QUALITY, EARLY FLINTLOCK SINGLE FOWLER BY GEORGE KEISER OF VIENNA.GEORGE KEISERF/LNSN20Cal. 20. This fine early gun, made around 1710, has 44" twist bbl with relief chiseled breech section, tapering and transitioning to round. Breech section is gold inlaid with simple scroll with makers name and address in gold on top flat. Large flat bodied lock with shaped chamfers features unbridled friction frizzen and flat bodied serpentine cock. Lock is engraved with horseman in pursuit of a running stag. Makers name is under pan and "In Weinn" is behind cock. Fancy walnut half stock, has carved horn tip, fine relief scroll carving around bbl tang, and gilded brass furniture. This fancy furniture consists of scroll and baroque engraved heavy buttplate, trigger guard and ramrod pipes with scrolled pierced sideplate and matching crest plate at top of grip. CONDITION: Good. Iron and steel parts cleaned to pewter and brown over considerable pitting. Wood has considerable marks and scuffs under restored finish. Carving slightly softened. There is a repaired crack about 10" behind forend tip which is partially filled with putty, and another crack under front portion of lock. Mechanically good. 51162-3 MGM50 (4,000-6,000)
