PERCUSSION JAEGER RIFLE WITH NESHANNOCK MARKING ON STOCK (MERCER CO. PA ?).NESHANNOCK WOODSJAEGER RIFLENSN62Cal. 62 (7 Groove rifling). 29" Swamped octagon bbl is fitted with bayonet studs on right side of muzzle. (Bayonet was often used when boar hunting in case your first and only shot failed). Unmarked lock converted from flint to percussion, has had frizzen replaced by nipple guard/ safety. Triggers are double set. Full length walnut stock with heavy brass nose cap is brass mounted and attaches to bbl with three side nails. Heavy brass ramrod is held by two beaded pipes and thimble. Buttplate and trigger guard are heavy brass. A sliding wood patchbox cover is on right side of butt behind a circular stamp in script "Neshannock ???" surrounding a "P". CONDITION: Good. Bbl is a rough very dark brown pitted patina. Lock is somewhat less pitted. Stock has old refinish. Brass nicely toned after last cleaning. Mechanically good. Triggers will not set. Bore is good, shiny, with some light pitting. 31377-4 MGM57 (2,500-3,500)
