RARE MID-18TH CENTURY VENETIAN CAVALRY FLINTLOCK PISTOL.VENICEF/L CAVALRYNSN70Cal. 70. 19-1/2" overall with 13-1/2" rnd bbl. Venetian Arsenal mark of a lion cartouche at tail of lock. The escutcheon plate marked with "Lion of Saint Mark". This gun is patterned after the French circa 1750, totally brass mounted with mouldings along forestock, tang, lock and lock escutcheon. This is a beautiful gun, well made with fine lines. PROVENANCE: Private Lifetime Collection of a Noted Scholar And Authority. CONDITION: Good to very good overall. Bbl and lock have iron patina, a mix of mottled grey. Brass furniture has been cleaned, trigger bow is bent as are ramrod pipes. Ramrod is a replacement as is front brass blade sight and brass nosecap band. Stock is sound, refinished and restored forestock.
