1818 DATED SPRINGFIELD FLINTLOCK MUSKET. SPRINGFIELD M1816 NSN 69 Cal. 69. This gun has matching lock and bbl dates of "1818". Lock markings are well struck and easily discerned. This is a scarce model in orig flint, unfortunately this is a re-conversion from percussion utilizing a mix of orig and reproduction parts but still presents nicely. CONDITION: Good to very good as reconverted and restored. The weld to bbl at breech removing percussion cone is obvious as are added lock parts with different surfaces in the re-conversion. Sling swivels are also restored. Iron overall has been cleaned with an overall mottled silver/grey color with pitting at breech. Stock has been sanded with rnd edges with no discernible inspector's marks opposite lock. The added frizzen spring is broken and has no tension. Lock holds on cock and half cock but with light tension. 51389-14 JS (500-800)
