GUN SPRING 2017
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 4/11/2017
HUGE PLAINS TYPE GUN BY H. SCHULTZ OF PITTSBURGH, PA.H. SCHULTZFLINTNSN72Cal. 72. (Smooth bore) This robust gun was probably originally made as a rifle, and has been subsequently bored to smooth. It has a 52" octagon to round bbl mounted with blacksmith made rear sight, and is double stamped on top flat "H Schultz". Unmarked flintlock with inset pan and unbridled friction frizzen, has serpentine cock. Beech wood (?) full stock with "Pennsylvania" cheekpiece is pinned to bbl and has simple iron trigger guard and plain wood butt. Being sold unreserved. CONDITION: Good. Metal parts have even brown heavy patina. Stock appears to have had oil rubbed in over old finish. There are some long and short longitudinal cracks along bbl channel, mostly on left side. Lock does not fit well, frizzen spring with old repair does not touch frizzen. 51707-3 MGM56 (1,500-2,000)
