Two beautiful 3rd type boxes that are nearly identical with green and black top labels and brown complete wrap bands. The labels are identical to the 1st variation of this label with the addition of a headstamp on the line drawing of the cartridge in the center. The brown paper bands wrapping the boxes picture an 1873 saddle ring carbine with rifle sight and front band. One end of the label has the identical line drawing of a cartridge as found on the top label. The other end of the band is marked "WINCHESTER / 44 CALIBER C.F. /MODEL 1873.". These labels probably appeared in the 1890's until about 1902. Few of these such early boxes survive today, intact with ammunition. SIZE: CONDITION: Again, virtually identical. Both boxes are sealed in plastic and the ammunition was not examined. Both labels show very light wear with very little soil. One box appears to be sealed while the other is opened.
