INTRIGUING OSS GENERAL MOTORS GUIDE LAMP DIV, LIBERATOR PISTOL WITH BOX AND INSTRUCTION MANUAL.GENERAL MOTORSLIBERATORNSN45W/REPRO BOX, WOOD EJECTORMODERN; C&RCal. 45. 4" bbl. Stamped sheet metal construction with removable floorplate for carrying spare ammunition. Sgl shot design. With box, ejecting rod, and cartoon-type instructions. Production estimated at 1 million. These guns were made for distribution to Partisans and freedom fighters as a simple handgun to be used to eliminate the enemy and capture usable small arms. The program was scrapped and the guns were to be destroyed. Now a favorite of collectors of clandestine operations and Partisan or in-country improvised weapons. A unique piece of history when the military establishment thought outside the box. CONDITION: Very fine with light tarnish and discoloration from storage. Shows very little actual use, however remains complete including the proper base plate. Bore is bright and smooth, as is correct. Mechanics are functional. Box, instruction manual, ejecting rod, and spare base plate are all of contemporary manufacture and are not WWII period. 52616-1 TDW (2,000-3,000)
