COLT 1911 CAL. 45 AUTOMATIC (BLACK ARMY) 1918 PRODUCTION PISTOL.COLT191149687145MODERN; C&RCal. 45. 5" bbl."Model of 1911 U.S. Army" marked. Long thin wide spur hammer. Slide left has 1913 patent date with rampant colt in the middle. Eagle head/S17 inspection mark over magazine catch button. Short tang grip safety. Flat mainspring housing. Type III two tone pinned magazine (proper). Bbl marked "HP" sharing common leg. Front sight is thin, flat and rounded with no flattening on top. Rear sight is flat top with rounded notch. Thumb safety is checkered late war type. Slide stop is checkered with 1911 cut. Stocks are dbl diamond. CONDITION: Very fine. Retains 97% orig finish. Stock diamonds excellent, with some flattening of diamonds. Stock screws in near new condition. Bottom of trigger guard bow shows "233" overstamp. Slide has drag mark on both sides from dustcover. Slight takedown scratch on receiver and slide. Front gripstrap retains most of orig finish with a couple of spots of holster wear near the butt and some scattered erosion typical of black army. Mainspring housing shows flaking of finish typical of black army pistols. Slide and frame retain most of the orig finish with a couple of spots of erosion on right side and top. Bore is shiny with a few spots of dirt. Mechanics are crisp. Overall, a very attractive black army 1918 pistol with most of its orig finish remaining. 52528-5 KXK (4,500-6,500)
