SUPERB COLT 1911 CAL. 45 AUTOMATIC EARLY 1917 PRODUCTION PISTOL. COLT 1911 152166 45 MODERN; C&R Cal. 45. 5" bbl. Last patent date 1913. Rampant colt to rear of slide left. Front sight is flat, thin and rounded. Rear sight is flat with rounded notch. Sans Serifed "H" above firing pin stop plate. Orig excellent dbl diamond checkered stocks with "REC" marking above lower left stock screw. Long wide spur hammer with rounded rear. Checkered thumb safety. Checkered slide stop with 1911 cut. Long milled trigger. Short tang grip safety. Flat mainspring housing with lanyard loop. Bbl marked with "P H" vertical marking. Frame marked with "GHS" (Gilbert H Stewart) acceptance mark above magazine catch left. Magazine is full blued unmarked pin base type, probably of Colt manufacture circa 1943. CONDITION: Extremely fine condition. Retains 98% orig Colt finish. Slide retains nearly all of its Colt brush blued finish with a small spot of wear opposite ejection port. Holdback notch shows moderate peening. Moderate wear underneath slide hammer rail. Bbl shows moderate corrosion and pitting. Stock screws show proper faceting. Stock screw slots show only moderate screwdriver wear. Front grip strap near perfect. Magazine catch lock shows moderate screwdriver damage. Mainspring housing showing only slight holster wear. Mechanics are crisp. Overall, a superb looking all orig except magazine 1917 1911 with only the slightest amount of wear anywhere. Pistol has been shot a lot but the superb orig finish does not indicate it. 52528-30 KXK (4,000-8,000)
