COLT 1911 CAL. 45 AUTOMATIC EARLY 1918 PRODUCTION PISTOL. COLT 1911 254801 45 MODERN; C&R Cal. 45. 5" bbl. Slide left has last patent date 1913 with Rampant Colt at the rear. Slide right has "MODEL OF 1911 U.S. ARMY". Rounded flat front sight with slight flattening of top. Flat rear sight with rounded notch. Long wide spur hammer with flattened rear. Short tang grip safety. Flat mainspring housing. Slide stop checkered with 1911 relief cut. Bbl is vertical "P H" marked. Magazine is fully blued with welded base and unserifed "L" marking on toe (later type). Frame marked "UNITED STATES PROPERTY" left dust cover. "JMG" (John M. Gibbert) acceptance mark over mag catch button. All markings in proper Gothic font. CONDITION: Fine condition. Slide has most of orig finish, less some minor pitting on front. Minor erosion around muzzle. Minor finish erosion on edges of dust cover. Flat mainspring housing shows typical holster wear pattern, blending nicely with receiver wear. Front grip strap shows minor thinning. Left dbl diamond stock shows minor wear on bottom. Stock screws show moderate screwdriver wear. Right dbl diamond stock may be replacement, as it is thicker and screws are recessed. Bore is shiny with minor frosting in grooves. Overall, a very attractive 92% with most of wear on grip straps.
