COLT 1944 45 AUTOMATIC PROBABLE LUNCHBOX PISTOL.COLT1911A1164881545MODERN; C&RCal. 45. 5" bbl. Contains all proper parts for 1944 1911A1 production including ramped front sight, wide square notch rear sight and unnumbered slide. Standard Colt nomenclature left side with rampant colt in the middle. Internally, the only marks is "M" on top of receiver. Externally, slide and frame have been "P" proofed in the normal places. Inspector of Ordnance mark and final acceptance marks are missing, as is Ordnance wheel. No sign of either having been applied. Bbl is "COLT 45 AUTO", small "G" mark but shows hand fitting residue on sides of lug. Wide milled checkered hammer. Checkered thumb safety. Serrated slide stop. Stamped trigger. Long tang grip safety. Checkered mainspring housing. Wide ring Colt wood stocks with reinforcing ribs. Indications are the pistol was never accepted by Ordnance and thus never shipped. A Colt letter would be needed to verify this. CONDITION: Very fine, except for bbl. Bore is pitted in lands and grooves. Slight takedown scratch. Wear on slide rail is minimal yet bbl shows extensive wear. Overall finish shows 97% Colt factory Parkerization with only a few spots of wear on dust cover, etc. with most of the wear on bbl. Magazine catch lock slot has slight screwdriver damage. Mechanics are fine. Magazine is full blued, postwar, marked "COLT .45 AUTO" on bottom that appears to have a slight bulge on the right side. 52528-7 KXK (1,850-2,250)
