WALTHER PRE-WAR MODEL H.P. COLLECTOR'S LOT. WALTHER HP 8440 9MM MODERN; C&R Cal. 9mm. 5" bbl. This gun was assembled postwar from a mixture of parts. The right side of trigger guard web is marked with the enigmatic "VK" in a circle stamp. There are no markings on the right side of slide, having been removed during the rebuild. The left side of slide retains the orig early Walther markings. The orig slide SN is present on the upper right flat. Frame was originally made by Spreewerke with eagle 88 inspector mark. Bbl, slide and frame have all been renumbered to match. Brown Bakelite grips. This gun is described on p. 111 and pictured on p. 113 of The P.38 Pistol, Vol. III by Warren Buxton. Accompanied by brown leather clam shell holster marked on back "ndk" in an oval, eagle WaA77, "44" in a circle, "P38" in an oval. PROVENANCE: Session two of the extraordinary Warren Buxton Collection. CONDITION: Fine as completely arsenal refurbished. Markings on left side of slide are weak due to refinishing. Other markings are clear. Bore has light pitting throughout showing wear with good rifling. Mechanics need attention. Slide hold open does not always engage. Grips are very good with light handling marks. Holster is solid with scuff marks. Markings are clear. Stitching is good with some minor pulling. 52342-35 GER (1,250-1,750) Holster

WALTHER MOD HP P38 PORTUGUESE 9MM PISTOL WITH HOLSTER. WALTHER HP 19088 9MM MODERN; C&R; IMPORT Cal. 9mm. 5" bbl. This gun has what are believed to be Portuguese markings on the right side of the frame above the SN. Eagle/N commercial proofs on right side of slide, bbl lug, block and frame. British proofed on left side of frame, slide and top of bbl. All external numbers matching. Dark Bakelite grips. Mag marked with circled KK-10 mark, and non-matching SN electric penciled on spine. This gun is described on p. 126, and pictured on p. 128 of The P.38 Pistol, Vol. III by Warren Buxton. Accompanied by black leather clam shell holster. Marked on back "H.DINKELMEYER/NURNBERG/1940", "WaA400". PROVENANCE: Session two of the extraordinary Warren Buxton Collection. CONDITION: Good condition, showing heavy wear. Walther markings on left side of slide are worn and barely legible. Other markings are clear. Grips are good, with a minor chip out of the top left corner of right grip along the seam. Bore is fair, showing moderate pitting with visible rifling. Mechanics are functional. Holster is good, with scuff marks and strong stitching. 52342-38 GER (500-700) Holster
