WWII GERMAN WALTHER P-38 PISTOL GROUP. MAUSER P38 8429I 9MM MODERN; C&R; IMPORT Cal. 9mm. 5" bbl. Marked on left side of slide "P.38", "svw/45", SN. Left side of frame is marked with an Austrian eagle, "BH" after the SN. The right side of the slide has a French star. The bottom of the frame ahead of the trigger guard is stamped "79". All external numbers matching. There do not appear to be any external Nazi inspector markings on this gun, including the mag. Metal grips. Mag is marked "P.38v/U". This gun, by SN is described on p. 83 and pictured on p. 87 of The P38 Pistol, Vol. III by Warren Buxton. Accompanied by black leather flap holster. Holster marked inside flap "bdr44"/eagle "WaA86". PROVENANCE: Session two of the extraordinary Warren Buxton Collection. CONDITION: Very good condition with most of the orig dull blue finish. All markings are clear. Metal grips retain most of the dark grey type finish, showing some wear. Bore has slight roughness with strong rifling. Mechanics are fine. Holster is fine with light scuff marks. WALTHER AC43 P38 9MM PISTOL WITH HOLSTER. WALTHER P38 9016C 9MM MODERN; C&R Cal. 9mm. 5" bbl. Standard WWII markings. WaA135 inspected. Appears to have had an East German sunburst mark which was removed from left side of frame. All external numbers matching. Brown Bakelite grips. Unmarked mag. Accompanied by black leather clam shell holster marked on back "cxb/43", eagle WaA210, "P38". PROVENANCE: Session two of the extraordinary Warren Buxton Collection. CONDITION: Very good with light surface rust and pinprick pitting on bbl. Markings are clear. Grips are fine with light handling marks. Bore has light pitting with good rifling. Mechanics are fine. UNUSUAL MAUSER BYF 44 P38 EAST GERMAN-AUSTRIAN 9MM PISTOL WITH HOLSTER. MAUSER P38 9133U 9MM MODERN; C&R; IMPORT Cal. 9mm. 5" bbl. This gun is a postwar East German rebuild from parts. The Spreewerke made zero series frame has had the orig SN X'd out by the East Germans during rebuild. Left side of frame is marked with a "22" in a sunburst in between the X'd out number and Spreewerke "U" marking followed by the Austrian eagle "BH" proof. Left side of slide is marked "P.38", "byf/44". The SN on front of bbl and left side of slide were applied in East Germany. The left side of bbl lug is marked "WaA135". The right side of slide has standard WWII German Mauser "WaA135" proofs. Dark brown Bakelite grips. Postwar banner Walther "P38 9mm" marked mag. This gun is described by SN on p. 92 and photographed on p. 93 of The P.38 Pistol, Vol. III by Warren Buxton. Accompanied by 1950's marked German black leather pebble grain flap holster. PROVENANCE: Session two of the extraordinary Warren Buxton Collection. CONDITION: Very good as arsenal refurbished. Markings are clear. Grips are fine, showing light handling marks. WALTHER AC43 P38 AUSTRIAN COMMERCIAL REWORK 9MM PISTOL WITH HOLSTER. WALTHER P38 7221H 9MM MODERN; C&R Cal. 9mm. 5" bbl. This gun has been completely refinished and reworked for the commercial market in Austria following WWII. Standard markings on left side of slide and frame. Eagle 359 inspected on left side of frame. Right side of slide is devoid of markings. The right side of the Eagle/N proofed commercial postwar bbl has the Austrian "NPv" proof as does the right side of the frame, which is also marked with "482.62". Brown Bakelite grips. Eagle 359 inspected "P.38v" marked mag. This gun is described on pgs. 96 & 98, pictured on p. 97 of The P38 Pistol, Vol. III by Warren Buxton. Accompanied by unmarked black leather and pressboard holster. PROVENANCE: Session two of the extraordinary Warren Buxton Collection. CONDITION: Fine as refurbished. Finish is thinning on front grip strap. Worn on high points, as well as top of bbl. Bore is bright with sharp rifling. Mechanics are fine. Grips are fine with minor handling marks. All external numbers matching. Holster is very good, showing wear and scuff marks. Solid stitching. 52342-39 GER (250-300) Holster
WALTHER WWII AC42 P38 9MM PISTOL WITH HOLSTER. WALTHER P38 3977E 9MM MODERN; C&R Cal. 9mm. 5" bbl. Standard markings with the addition of a "1" on the front left corner of left side of slide, as well as two digits stamped on the right side of the frame. Eagle 359 inspector's mark. All external numbers matching. Chocolate brown Bakelite grips. Eagle 359 inspected "P.38" mag. This gun is described on p. 227 and pictured on p. 228 of The P.38 Pistol, Vol. III by Warren Buxton. Accompanied by a black leather clam shell holster, marked on back "eue/42", eagle WaA300, "P38". PROVENANCE: Session two of the extraordinary Warren Buxton Collection. CONDITION: Good condition, with some very light pinprick pitting on left side of slide. Markings are clear. Finish worn off front grip strap as well as high points. Bore is good with some pitting and strong rifling. Mechanics need attention: Good function on dbl action, hammer will only occasionally stay cocked as sgl action. Should be addressed. Holster shows wear with scuff marks. Strong stitching. 52342-40 GER (300-500) Holster
