High condition Walther Olympia pistol, with full complement of weights in orig shipping box with Walther cleaning tin and key for weights. Standard configuration 1936 Olympia with 7-1/2" bbl fitted with screw-in front sight and horizontally adjustable rear sight. The left side of the slide is marked with the Walther banner, its location Zella-Mehlis, "Olympia-Pistole" and the SN "7865" that is repeated immediately below on the extended tang along with "0" for Olympia. The right side of the slide is marked "CAL .22 long rifle". "Crown/N" markings are on the right side of the slide and repeated twice on the right side of the bbl near the chamber. As per all the standard Olympias, the lower surface of the bbl is grooved for a counterweight assembly. The forward frame has a similar provision as reflected be a groove and two screw holes. 2-piece wrap-around wooden grip secured with two screws and covered with several panels of deep checkering. Factory orig mag is fitted to an extended wooden base that is matched on the left side with "7865". Pistol has been fitted with two sets of counterweights, one set is screwed on to the lower bbl while the second set is screwed onto the forward frame. Complete in an orig shipping box whose surface is nicely marked with the Walther banner and still bears the white/green label "Olympia / Sportpistole / Cal. 22". The bottom of box is compartmentalized for pistol and tinned cleaning box with oil bottle/hair/cloth. There is also a chrome-plated key to remove the weights, likely a replacement. PROVENANCE: Session two of the extraordinary Warren Buxton Collection. CONDITION: Approximately the pistol has about 99% bright orig salt blue. There is more wear on the weights and grips as would befit a 95% gun, especially as concerns the grips that have several areas devoid of the orig varnish. Mirror bright bore with sharp rifling. Perfect manual mechanics. Box is tattered with numerous losses, the sides of the cover having lost their wood grain surface. Excellent Walther made cleaning tin, enclosed accessories, and weight key. 52342-166 LMA (1,600-2,400)
