SCARCE GRADE 4 ITHACA CRASS MODEL 12 GAUGE SHOTGUN. ITHACA 4E CRASS 36596 12GA MODERN; C&R; ESA Cal. 12 ga. 26" American Flag Bunting Damascus bbls (reduced to this length). Lengthened chambers to 3". Chokes are cyl/mod. Full length matted top rib with twin ivory beads, front bead is a somewhat crude oval replacement. Gold plated checkered dbl triggers, extractors, automatic safety. Round knob pistol grip buttstock checkered in dbl Fleur-de-lis pattern at wrist and gold shield near toe with 14-1/4" LOP over Ithaca Gun Co. HRBP. Splinter forearm checkered in fancy wave and geometric pattern with triangular ebony tip. Receiver is beautifully engraved, likely by Joseph Loy with setter in field scene on right, pointer on left surrounded by beautifully executed scroll engraving, bottom of frame with what appear to be quail surrounded by near full scroll coverage. Trigger guard bow with flying goose. All visible SN's match. WEIGHT: 6 lbs. 15 oz. CONDITION: Good. Bbls, shortened as noted above, retain approximately 90% vivid and bold orig Damascus pattern. Buttstock and forearm are very good, having been restored long ago, checkering has thinned, small loss on left side of forearm at frame and top of butt at heel. Buttplate is good with chip and small repaired crack at toe. Receiver retains approximately 30% orig case color. Bores are bright and shiny. Mechanics are fine. A classic Loy engraved Ithaca with this cataloger's favorite Damascus pattern. 52194-2 JSL (2,500-3,500)
