SCARCE PARKER GRADE TWO 12 GAUGE HAMMER SHOTGUN. PARKER GRADE 2 55538 12 ESA Cal. 12 ga. 26" Damascus bbl (factory records indicate this gun was originally shipped with 30" bbls). 2-5/8" chambers. Chokes cyl/cyl. Full length matted top rib with ivory front bead. No. 1 frame. Blued dbl triggers, extractors, no safety. Capped pistol grip buttstock, checkered in 3-point pattern with nickel shield behind top tang and 14-1/8" LOP over Parker Bros DHBP. All visible SN's matching. Splinter forearm with Deeley release and steel tip, checkered in standard Grade 2 pattern. Receiver is nicely engraved with two birds on each side and bottom, surrounded by light early Parker scroll. Bore diameter: left -.750, right – .752. Bore restrictions: left – .000, right – .000. Wall thickness: left – .027, right – .019. Drop at heel: 3-1/4″, drop at comb: 2″. WEIGHT: 6 lbs, 15 oz. CONDITION: Very fine. Bbls retain approximately 80% orig Damascus pattern starting to tone at forearm but very nice overall, shortened from 30". Buttstock and forearm appear totally orig, with minor handling marks and a couple of grain separations on right side of butt near buttplate. Checkering lightly thinned throughout. Lockplates retain nearly all their bold orig case color, receiver has toned. Trigger plate with bold orig case color, trigger guard with more than 80% orig high luster blue. Bores are good with minor pitting, particularly in right bbl. Mechanics are crisp. A gorgeous high orig condition Parker hammer gun in need of a set of #1 frame bbls. 52307-1 JSL (1,500-2,500)
