KERNER AND SONS BOXLOCK DOUBLE RIFLE.E KERNERBEST DBL RIFLE152809.3x74RCASE, CLEANING ROD, 1 BOX NORMA AMMOMODERN; C&RCal. 9.3 x 74R. 25-1/4" Dovetailed bbls fitted with full length matted rib mounting claw scope bases and one standing, one folding leaf rear sight, has gold bead in raised front portion of rib. Tops of bbls are engraved with makers name and "Suhl". Bbl flats are stamped with 10/27 imperial nitro proofs for 93/74, bottoms of bbls with steel info, SN, and Kerner logo. A narrow sling loop is soldered to bottom bbls. French gray scallop backed boxlock action with side safety features pin type cocking indicators, crossbolt third fastener, side clips, reinforcing bolsters to frame, and dbl triggers (both set). Action is engraved in near full coverage large Germanic foliate scroll with punch dot background surrounding vignettes of game on sides of action with a hound in stand-off with roebuck on left, and a pair of running boar on right. Trigger guard is of horn. Lightly figured European walnut horn capped pistol grip buttstock measures 14-1/2" over Silver type pad, and features small shadow line right hand cheekpiece, point pattern checkering at grip, and a cartridge trap with space for 4 cartridges along with a sling loop, on toe line. Matching splinter forend with small inset horn tip has Deeley release. Drop at heel: approx 2-1/2", drop at comb: approx 1-9/16". Neutral cast. Weight: 8 lbs. 4 oz. LOP: 14-1/2". Home made red vinyl covered case contains a cleaning rod and a box of Norma ammunition. CONDITION: Very good to fine. Bbls retain 80% orig blue with numerous light marks. Action retains most of its french gray, silvered on high areas from hand wear. Stocks retain most of what appears to be their orig finish with numerous scratches, both deep and shallow, and some added oil on butt. Checkering somewhat worn. Bores are very fine, slightly darkened. Action is tight. Mechanically good. Case is good. 52187-1 MGM153 (3,500-5,000)
