NEAT J.D. DOUGALL LOCKFAST 16 GAUGE HAMMER SHOTGUN. J.D. DOUGALL HAMMER 2498 16 Cal. 16 ga. 27" Damascus bbls with plain Damascus top rib and brass front bead. 2-3/4" chambers, double triggers, extractors, no safety. Straight grip buttstock checkered in 2-point pattern with gold oval near toe and heal and toe clips at butt, with 14-1/4" LOP. Splinter forearm is near fully checkered in 2-point pattern with wedge fastener. Back action locks marked "J.D. Dougall" and action is nicely scroll engraved in about 40% coverage. Bottom of action engraved "Dougall's / Patent Lockfast". Right side of receiver with engraved lockfast lever. All visible SN's match. WEIGHT: 6lbs 6oz. CONDITION: Good. Bbls retain 75% toned Damascus pattern with several dings towards muzzle one more significant in left tube which should be fixed. Receiver has toned with no orig case color remaining. Buttstock and forend retain most of an older professional restored finish with scattered dings and scratches. Forearm checkering is slightly thinned. Bores are good with scattered beginning pitting and in need of attention to have dents removed. Mechanics are fine. A neat light weight sub-gauge hammer gun. 52562-2 JSL (1,500-2,000)
