WINCHESTER 3RD MODEL 1866 SADDLE RING CARBINE. WINCHESTER 1866 153669 44RF Cal. 44 RF. 20" rnd bbl, full magazine, gunmetal receiver, straight grain American walnut stocks with gunmetal carbine buttplate. Bbl shows 2-line Winchester address rolled in front of rear sight. "S" is stamped behind rear sight. Bbl has standard carbine sights with front sight on bbl band and 2-leaf rear sight. Lower tang has SN stamped behind lever latch. CONDITION: Very good. Bbl shows a deep grey/brown patina overall with a couple of dents and some roughness toward the muzzle. Bbl mark is faint but legible. Sights are good. Bore is dark with traces of rifling. Receiver shows a deep mustard patina that has developed after it was cleaned long ago. SN is sharp. Upper tang screw is a replacement. Stocks are very good, slightly undersized and show handling marks and dents over an old cleaning. Forend has a couple of deep gouges toward the front. Buttplate is also a deep mustard patina. Saddle ring and staple have been removed from receiver, but are included with this lot. Mechanics need attention; lever is loose, hammer holds at half and full cock. A decent example of a "YELLOW BOY" Winchester carbine. 52552-3 TEP (2,000-4,000)
