WINCHESTER 3RD MODEL 1873 MUSKET. WINCHESTER 1873 570168 38-56WCF MODERN; C&R Cal. 44 WCF. 30" bbl, blue finish, straight grain American walnut stocks. Three bbl bands on forestock. Sling swivels mounted on middle bbl band and buttstock. Bbl has stud front sight and ladder rear sight. Bbl shows 2-line Winchester address in front of rear sight with Cal. mark at the rear of sight. Upper tang is marked "MODEL 1873" with finials, lower tang shows SN stamped behind lever latch. PROVENANCE: The collection of Tim Zissler. CONDITION: Very fine. Bbl retains nearly all of the bright blue finish with a few small scratches and slight muzzle wear. Bbl bands and magazine tube also retain nearly all the blue finish. Sights are very good. Bbl markings are sharp. Bore is bright with strong rifling. Receiver also retains nearly all of the original blue finish with only a few light scratch marks evident. Dust cover retains 80% blue that has faded somewhat to plum. Loading gate shows most of the fire blue. Elevator is a bright mustard patina with a sharp mark. Hammer and lever show nearly all of case color finish. The stocks are fine with all of the oil finish. Stocks show a few deep dents from handling in a rack. Buttplate retains nearly all of the orig case color with some slight staining at the heel and toe. Mechanics are crisp. 52471-17 TEP (5,000-8,000)
