WINCHESTER MODEL 1886 SADDLE RING CARBINE WITH RIFLE BUTT AND FACTORY LETTER.WINCHESTER188610917140-82WCFMODERN; C&RCal. 40-82 WCF. 22" rnd bbl, full magazine, full blue finish, straight grain American walnut stocks with crescent buttplate. Plastic bead front sight, standard carbine rear sight. Bbl shows 2-line Winchester address rolled in front of rear sight. Cal. designation is at breech end. Tang is marked "MODEL 1886" bordered by dashes. SN is stamped on lower tang behind lever. Patent marks stamped under lever. Accompanied by a Cody Firearms Museum letter confirming all features and showing shipment on October 25, 1907 to Order Number 128245. CONDITION: Very good. Bbl and magazine tube both show a mottled grey/brown patina overall with some roughness, especially on the right side. Traces of blue show in protected areas. Front bbl band is slightly loose. Sights very good. Bore is dark with visible rifling. Receiver retains traces of orig blue in protected areas with balance turning a silver/grey patina. There is some erosion on right side and light cleaning. Bolt is a silver/grey patina. Hammer and lever are both a silver/grey patina with hints of case color in protected areas. Markings are sharp. Stocks are very good, full size and show numerous small handling marks and dents. Forend has some bruising on right side. Buttplate is a mottled silver/grey patina. Bbl bands are silver/grey patina. Mechanics are functional. A chance to obtain a decent 1886 carbine with a rare rifle buttplate. 52405-5 TEP (4,000-5,000)
