WINCHESTER MODEL 1886 ROUND BARREL HALF-MAGAZINE RIFLE WITH IVORY BEAD LYMAN FRONT SIGHT AND SHOTGUN BUTTPLATE. WINCHESTER 1886 128132 33WCF MODERN; C&R; ESA Cal. 33 WCF. 24" rnd bbl, half-magazine, full blue finish, straight grain American walnut stocks with Winchester hard rubber buttplate. Bbl shows 2-line Winchester address rolled in front of rear sight and Cal. designation at the breech. "NICKEL STEEL BARREL / ESPECIALLY FOR SMOKELESS POWDER" is rolled at the left rear side of bbl. Front sight is a Lyman patent blade with ivory insert. Rear sight is standard sporting type. Upper tang is marked "MODEL 1886" bordered by dashes. SN is stamped on lower tang behind lever. Patent dates are stamped under lever. CONDITION: Very good. Bbl shows an even grey/brown patina overall with some roughness toward the muzzle and traces of blue in protected areas. Bbl markings are sharp. Sights are very good. Bore is dark with visible rifling. Receiver retains traces of blue in protected areas with the balance drifting to a smooth grey/brown patina. Bolt shows 20% blue. Hammer is a silver/grey patina with a hint of case color, as is the lever. Markings are sharp and clear. Stocks are very good, have been lightly cleaned and are slightly undersized; finish has been restored. Buttplate is good with wear at the heel and a chip missing at the toe. Checkering is sharp, logo is sharp. Forend cap is a silver/grey patina. Mechanics are fine. A nice example of a late 1886 rifle. 52405-9 JS (2,500-3,500)
