FIRST YEAR PRODUCTION ANTIQUE WINCHESTER MODEL 1892 RIFLE WITH ROUND BARREL AND CRESCENT BUTTPLATE.WINCHESTER18921277444WCFCal. 44 WCF. 24" rnd bbl, full magazine, blue finish. Straight grain American walnut stocks with crescent buttplate. Bbl has standard sporting sights. Bbl shows 2-line Winchester address in front of rear sight with Cal. marking to the rear. Upper tang is marked "MODEL 1892 / WINCHESTER / PAT. OCT. 14 1884". SN is stamped on lower front of receiver. PROVENANCE: The collection of Tim Zissler. CONDITION: Fine. Bbl and magazine tube retain 80%, somewhat thinning blue finish overall, with a couple of small dents and slight muzzle wear. Bbl markings are sharp, sights are very good. Bore is bright with sharp rifling. Receiver retains 85-90% blue finish with some high point wear and striation showing on left side. Bolt retains 80% blue. Loading gate shows considerable fire blue. Hammer and lever also retain a generous amount of case color finish that is vivid in protected areas. All receiver markings are sharp. Stocks are very good, full sized, retain most of their original finish, and show only minor handling marks overall. Buttplate is a smooth mottled brown patina with slight traces of case color evident. Forend cap retains 80% blue. Mechanics are crisp. An opportunity to obtain a hard to find first year production antique Winchester Model 1892 rifle in far above average condition. 52471-9 TEP (4,000-7,000)
