ANTIQUE WINCHESTER MODEL 1892 ROUND BARREL RIFLE WITH CRESCENT BUTTPLATE.WINCHESTER924232844WCFCal. 44 WCF. 24" rnd bbl, full magazine, full blue finish, straight grain American walnut stocks with crescent buttplate. Bbl shows 2-line Winchester address rolled in front of rear sight with Cal. mark at the breech. German silver blade front sight, semi-buckhorn rear sight. Upper tang is marked "MODEL 1892 / WINCHESTER / PAT. OCT. 14 1884". SN is stamped on lower forward part of receiver. CONDITION: Very good to fine. Bbl and magazine tube retain 30% somewhat dull blue finish that is bright in protected areas. Bbl has a few minor mars and some muzzle wear. Markings are sharp. Sights are very good. Bore is frosty with strong rifling. Receiver retains about 40% blue finish that has blended to a grey/brown patina, especially at the carry point. Loading gate shows traces of fire blue. Bolt shows considerable blue. Lever and hammer are both grey/brown patina with hints of case color remaining. Screws are unmolested. All markings are sharp and clear. Stocks are very good, full sized and show minor handling marks overall. Buttstock has been lightly cleaned and has a small spot filled on the comb. Buttplate is a grey patina. Forend cap shows traces of blue. Mechanics are fine. A nice antique Winchester Model 92. 52504-3 TEP (3,000-5,000)
