WINCHESTER MODEL 95 TAKEDOWN RIFLE WITH “CLIMBIN’ LYMAN” 38 RECEIVER SIGHT.WINCHESTER9540922630-06MODERN; C&RCal. 30-06. 24" bbl. Takedown. Full blue finish, straight grain American walnut stocks with crescent buttplate. Bbl shows "NICKEL STEEL BARREL / ESPECIALLY FOR SMOKELESS POWDER" in front of Cal. designation on the left rear side. Front sight is a Lyman bead. Rear sight mortise has been plugged. "WP" proof appears at breech of bbl and top ring of receiver. Upper tang is marked "MODEL 95 / WINCHESTER / TRADEMARK REG. U.S. PAT. OFF. & FGN.". SN appears on lower tang under lever. Winchester address and patent mark is rolled on left side of receiver under receiver sight. CONDITION: Extremely fine. Bbl retains 98% bright blue finish with only a few slight scratches, especially toward the muzzle and a slight stain at the breech. Front sight is very good. Markings are sharp and clear. Bore is bright with strong rifling. Receiver also retains 90% bright blue finish with some flaking on right side and front top ring. There are a few stains on the takedown ring. Magazine and lever also show 90% blue finish with some abrasions from operation. Lyman receiver sight also retains 80% blue. Bolt shows 95% blue. Hammer shows 90% blue with most of the wear on front face. Stocks are very fine, full sized and retain nearly all of their orig varnish finish with only miniscule handling marks overall. Buttplate shows 80% blue finish that is drifting to a plum/brown with some wear in the middle. Ebony schnabel insert is fine. Mechanics are crisp. A very fine example of a Winchester Model 95 takedown rifle made in 1923. 52418-3 TEP (4,000-6,000)
