COLT 3RD MODEL DRAGOON PERCUSSION REVOLVER. COLT DRAGOON 13653 44 Cal. 44. This is a nice crisp example of a Colt Dragoon in usual configuration with 7-1/2" oct to rnd bbl, one-line New York address with German silver blade front sight. Left side of frame has patent markings and cyl has rolled Dragoon/Indian fight scene. This gun was made for the civilian market as noted by factory varnished grips and lack of U.S. on frame. PROVENANCE: Will Hoffield Collection, 1962. CONDITION: Very good overall. Appears orig and matching with exception of replaced wedge screw. All parts normally numbered are matching including wedge. Grips were not removed but appear orig, well fit with moderate edge wear and over half their orig factory varnish. There is traces of orig finish on bbl and frame in protected areas with balance of metal an overall plum/gray with areas of cleaning and pitting. Brass backstrap and trigger guard cleaned with no traces of silver with light mustard patina. Cyl scene is about 70% visible with one large area of pitting around SN. Mechanically fine with well discerned pitted bore. 52707-2 JS (5,000-7,000)
