RARE CASED SET OF COLT MODEL 1862 POLICE AND 1849 POCKET REVOLVERS. 1849 POCKET/1862 POLICE 1849 POCKET/ 1862 POLICE 120287/21943 31/36 Cal. 31/36. Interesting cased pair of Colt revolvers, both with considerable amounts of orig finish, though neither functions. 1) 1862 Police, 5-1/2" bbl revolver retains much of its orig finish and appears "as found", made 1863. 2) 1849 Pocket Model, 4" bbl, made in 1857. Pocket Model retains most of its orig finish though broken loading arm. Casing appears contemporary to period with numerous pistol balls, powder flask and two cap tins. CONDITION: 1) Very good to fine overall. Revolver retains about 60% blue though thinning and balance plum. Muted case colors on frame, hammer and loading assembly with staining and light pitting. Grip is well fit retaining 90% orig factory varnish. Gun is very soiled and grungy overall. Used as tack hammer. One cone broken off, but broken top portion retained in case in smaller cap tin. Mechanically, cylinder will not rotate. Sharp crisp bore. 2) Very good overall. Bbl retains 70-80% bright blue finish with staining. Cylinder has traces of finish with mostly discernible cylinder scene with rust and staining. Muted case colors are seen under grungy surface on frame, hammer and loading arm which last 1/2" is broken off. Grips are well fit retaining 90% plus bright varnish. Mechanically gun is not functional; hammer will not move forward from half cock. Brass back strap and trigger guard retain most of their orig silver which has patinaed black. Mahogany casing is sound, solid with normal scuffs and scratches, offset slightly on back of lid. Internally, burgundy colored lining is heavily soiled and stained.
