RARE 1ST MODEL COLT 1851 NAVY PERCUSSION REVOLVER WITH WEDGE OVER SCREW. COLT 1ST MDL NAVY 412 36 Cal. 36. Very early square back Navy with the wedge over the screw and brass grip frame with square back trigger guard, 1-pc walnut grip. It has standard configuration 7-1/2" bbl with brass pin front sight. PROVENANCE: Outstanding estate collection of Confederate and historical arms of Morris Racker. CONDITION: Very good overall, gray metal with light pitting, markings all clear including bbl address. Gun appears completely original with matching SNs found on bbl, frame, trigger guard, backstrap, cylinder, loading arm and correct non-slotted arbor. Gun retains about 50% of silver plate on backstrap and trigger guard. Original Colt wedge is replaced with 5-digit SN. There is a contemporary inscription on backstrap of unknown meaning "SW TO CL / CREDE EXPERTO". Tacking marks on butt. Mechanically sound with well discerned rifling and bore. 51958-7 JS (8,000-12,000)
