SCARCE COLT 2ND MODEL SQUARE BACK MODEL 1851 NAVY PERCUSSION REVOLVER. COLT NAVY 2196 36 Cal. 36. This gun was made in first year of production, 1850 in standard configuration with 7-1/2" oct bbl with 1-line New York City address. Gun has seen hard use with restoration. PROVENANCE: The Confederate and Civil War estate collection of Fred Donaldson. CONDITION: Good overall as restored. Matching SNs are found on bbl, frame, trigger guard, backstrap, cylinder and loading arm. Wedge and arbor are both replacements as are grips and several screws. Metal is grey and cleaned overall with partially discerned cylinder scene, bbl address is discernible as are SNs, though bbl number is weak and possibly touched up. Mechanically functional with discernible rifling in pitted bore. 52438-11 JS (2,000-3,000)
