COLT HARTFORD NAVY REVOLVER WITH PERIOD INSCRIPTION. COLT NAVY 80797 36 Cal. 36. This gun made in 1857 is in the martial range with sub-inspector marks found on most metal parts, but no discernible inspector cartouches. Gun appears all matching with SNs found on all parts normally numbered including wedge and grips. Inscribed on backstrap in contemporary script "G. EDMOND". Purchased by Mr. Donaldson in Texas in the 1980s. There is only one “G. Edmond” listed in our Civil War database and that was Gilbert Edmond, 4th NYHA, Saratoga, NY. PROVENANCE: The Confederate and Civil War estate collection of Fred Donaldson. CONDITION: Very good overall. Overall cleaned and bright. Markings all fairly clear with well fit 1-pc walnut grips with bright waxy finish. Brass has tiny traces of silver with medium mustard patina. Cylinder scene is about 90% visible with crisp mechanics and crisp rifled bore. 52438-18 JS (2,000-3,000)
