ALLEN & THURBER PEPPERBOX COLLECTION. ALLEN & THURBER PEPPERBOX 278 36 ESA Cal. 36. This is a nice example of an early, pre-1845 dragoon pepperbox with "1837" patent dated 6-shot 5" bbl cluster. This is a nice "as found" example with good patina. Accompanied by Mr. Ballard's hand drawn display card. PROVENANCE: Paul Henry Collection; Lifetime collection of Roger Ballard, 2005. CONDITION: Very good overall, metal is overall dark grey/plum with traces of blue, all matching including SNs including grips which are well fit with good ivory patina. 52703-16 JS (3,500-5,500)

GROUP OF 3 LARGE FRAME AMERICAN PEPPERBOX REVOLVERS WITH IVORY GRIPS.ALLENPEPPERBOX19/144/19431/31/36ESACal. 31. This group has three, almost relic condition, 6-bbl cluster pepperboxes which all display beautifully. SN 144 still has two loaded chambers. Bbl lengths vary from 3-1/2" to almost 6" dragoon. All appear to be Allen patents, though markings only partially discernible. Accompanied by Mr. Ballard's hand drawn display card. PROVENANCE: Lifetime collection of Roger Ballard. CONDITION: Fair to good overall. SN 19 and 144 appear "as found", though SN 144 is missing shroud and trigger bow is loose. The dragoon, SN 194, has one frame screw restored. Ivory grips all fit well with varying ivory patinas. Mechanically, all guns need attention with pitted bores. 52703-19 JS (800-1,200)

Spur on trigger guard is bent upward. Markings all discernible. Metal is overall dark plum/grey with pitting. Grips are well fit with ivory patina.
